SERVPRO of Gainesville is always here to help! We are happy to bring you safety tips for grilling season.

Summer and warmer weather is an exciting time to be outdoors. There is truly nothing better than a summer night with freshly grilled food! Unfortunately according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) July is the peak month for grill fires and roughly half of the injuries involving grills are thermal burns. This doesn’t mean to hang up your outdoor chefs hat, but to remember these important grilling safety tips.

  • Place grills away from your home or deck railings and out from under eaves or hanging branches.
  • Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from grilling areas and never leave the grill unattended.
  • Keep grills clean by removing buildup of fat and grease.

When grill fires happen there is more than just the fire damage, but also smoke and water damage. Protect yourself, your home, and others by remembering these grilling safety tips.
